A YOGA RETREAT SET IN THE LABYRINTHS OF MARRAKECH, MAY 13 - MAY 19, 2018

marrakech_snow.jpeg

Joie de vivre! Join us for a yoga jaunt in the imperial city of Marrakech. With spirits high, we dive into the heart of the medina for a sensory experience, then retreat back into subtlety, the private enclosure at Four Seasons Resort Marrakech. This journey will take place from Sunday, May 13 to Saturday, May 19, 2018.

I have taken steps to ensure you feel completely at home while at the Four Seasons Marrakech. This is a flawless oasis just outside of the bustling medina. The Resort sits adjacent to the Menara Gardens with majestic views of the Atlas Mountains.

Travel light and bring your yoga mat. Dress to please yourself, perhaps in a flowing caftan or the local cotton djellaba.

Bring a journal and watercolors if you wish, as the colors and flavors of Marrakech will spark your creativity. Your senses will ignite in this vibrant community, with eclectic shopping that will inspire you to bring a bit of Morocco’s bohemian style into your home.

Camel rides across the desert, a belly dancing lesson followed by a delicious tagine al fresco …all this within the healthy paradigm of daily yoga flow.

Eclectic shopping awaits in the labyrinthine souks filled with ceramics, old city lanterns, hand-stitched pillows, carpets and caftans galore!

We will rise together and stretch each morning with movements that will unravel our traveling bodies. Vinyasa flow each day will offer an exploration into our subtle energy centers, understood as our chakras. Evenings will include a slower paced Yin & Yang practice, followed by a festive dinner under the stars.

CHAKRA VINYASA MODULE

jodi-fischtein-889-living-yoga-chakra-vinyasa.jpg

We are so much more than just muscles, bones and skin.

Learn about our subtle anatomy, the energy body, as discovered thousands of years ago by the ancient yogis. We learn a new language to explain the things that we can’t necessarily see, but can feel in our bodies, and in our hearts. These ideas are brought to life in this dynamic workshop through modern vinyasa practice.

In this module you will learn: The seven Chakras (psycho-spiritual centres) and the Nadis (rivers of energy) in the subtle body; Psychology of the Chakras and understanding ourselves through subtle body maps; Chakra Vinyasa yoga sequences; The Panca Vayus (five winds) and intuitive alignment.; Exploration of various Pranayama (breath practices); Safe inversions for all levels of students; Empowering core work for stability and strength; Bija Mantra for chakra meditation; Artistic expression and creative projects.

889 Yonge Street, Toronto November 19th, 12:00-6:30pm and November 20th, 12:00-6:30pm, $288 +HST

Backbend & Inversion Exploration with Jodi Fischtein at 889 Yoga

IMG_4212.jpg

Backbends can feel exhilarating and quite unique from our typical state of being. On a physical level backbends stimulate our central nervous system, boost our immune system, increase mobility in our spinal column, open the hips, and strengthen the legs. Backbends may also enhance our energy levels and expand our breathing capacity. In this workshop we will move through Namaskar sequences that will lengthen our quads, hips and psoas muscles. This work will guide us to the deeper back bending postures. We will begin with the fundamentals of supported back and shoulder openers. All asanas can be explored with blocks, bolsters and straps. All Levels Welcome! Beginner & Intermediate Poses

We will feel invigorated throughout our backbend exploration and neutralize this work back strengthening, seated and supine twists, gentle forward bending and Viparita Karani (Wallflower.) Together we will embrace any psychological or physical obstacles so as to give our central nervous system a chance to develop the full range of strength and opening necessary for a enhanced practice.

Price: $50 per person, $45 for 889 Members

Marrakech Yoga Retreat at the Four Seasons Resort, April 26 – May 2, 2015

IMG_0057.jpg

Joie de vivre! Join us for a yoga jaunt in the imperial city of Marrakech. We will travel along a vibrant path of fluid yoga and exploration. Untethered. With spirits high we dive into the heart of the medina for a sensory experience, then retreat back intosubtlety, the private enclosure at Four Seasons Resort Marrakech. I have taken steps to insure you feel completely at home while at the Four Seasons Marrakech. This is a flawless oasis just outside of the bustling Medina. The Resort sits adjacent to the Menara Gardens with majestic views of the Atlas Mountains. Let this holiday be what it needs to be, without judgement.

You have the option to join us for morning meditation at the start of each day followed by Vinyasa flow yoga. As we are all seekers of reassuring solidity, we will also explore our Chakra system. We will seek to engage the flow of subtle energies expressed as our Chakra Vinyasa. The seven chakras are useful way to sense consciousness in our bodies. These chakras are part of our subtle body, not the physical body. Chakras can be envisioned as the meeting points of the subtle energy channels in which our life force (prana, chi) moves. Vinyasa flow yoga offers the practitioner a seamless transition of asanas (poses) in a sequence that can offer steady progression in strength and flexibility. Vinyasa is deeply integrated with mindful pranayama (control of the breath, felt as vital energy in your body). At dusk we come together for a relaxing Yin & Yang restorative practice. Yin & Yang yoga will provide shapes designed to lengthen our bodies, complemented with slower pace and restorative poses as needed. Classes will be held by the pool, rooftop or indoors, as needed. Classes are open to all levels, beginner to practiced.

Yes! I want to go to Marrakech. Retreat registration located here
